We had a similar experience with our motor home and stopped frequently to check temperatures on the way to South Texas. In addition, I had to keep adding bearing oil to the front hub -little different set-up than on the 5th wheel. Threw out bearing oil across Texas until I could get it repaired in Mission, TX.

Do you check (torque) your lug nuts on the trailer after having a wheel removed? I was told to torque them after first 25-50 miles and then every 100 miles or so until they no longer move. I am always surprised that they actually need tightening
