Blueberry Hill Yard Sale
Bushnell, FL - Events of Saturday, January 24 to Thursday, January 29, 2015
Blueberry Hill has resort-wide yard sales about once a month over the winter season where guests can attempt to sell unwanted items. They can set up a table at their site or set up using one of the picnic tables in the pavilion next to the clubhouse.
There is no charge to participate, so we sometimes do. However, our results in the past have been fairly poor so it isn't worth the trouble of dragging everything out and putting it away again. However, with moving from the motor home to our new 5th wheel, we had LOTS of stuff to get rid of. Not only that, but having a shed this year makes getting things out and putting unsold items away again after the sale very much easier.
The first yard sale of the year was back in December. Even though we already had many things to sell, the weather the day of the sale was rainy and we only sold one item to the fellow parked across the street from us.
Last Saturday was another yard sale. It rained overnight, and weather radar showed there were still showers in the area when Paul got up in the morning. However, the showers started to dissipate just before 9:00 a.m., which was the scheduled start time for the sale. Paul almost wrote the day off because he thought no one would show up because of the earlier rain, but he persevered and started getting things out of the shed.
By 9:15, people were starting to show up. Shortly after that, the clouds started breaking up and the sun came out.
Even though it was still cool and very windy, we can't ever remember seeing as many potential customers as there were this time. That was good for us because we had more things for sale than we ever had before. In addition to weeding out household items, we also had a tow bar, an auxiliary toad brake and miscellaneous towing items for sale. We got rid of one big item (the toad brake) and numerous small items for our most successful Blueberry Hill yard sale ever.
Customers started waning around noon, so Paul put what was left (which was still a lot) back into the shed. After doing the yard sale in the morning and more organizing inside the 5th wheel during the afternoon, we decided it was a good day to head up the road to Beef O'Brady's for lupper. Helping us make that decision was the fact we had previously gotten an e-mail coupon for a free appetizer, and the coupon was about to expire.
For our appetizer, we chose cheesy bacon pub chips. The appetizer consists of homemade potato chips smothered in cheese and bacon. There had to be half a pound of bacon and half a pound of cheese on the chips. It's a heart attack in a bowl; but we don't indulge often and it is sooooo good. Margery had trouble waiting for Paul to get the photo.

Margery had fish and chips. She substituted cole slaw for the fries, so it wasn't really fish and chips anymore. In order for us to use the coupon for the free appetizer, one of us had to have a dinner entree. Therefore, Paul ordered a grilled shrimp dinner with broccoli and cole slaw. Everything was delish - especially the pub chips.

We relaxed with an evening of TV. Since the weather was cool, we got to enjoy our new electric fireplace. Not only does it help create a cozy atmosphere, it puts out a nice amount of heat.
Sunday was another cool day, so Margery whipped up a batch of chili after church. She is really enjoying the larger kitchen and all the counter space. To top it off, all her ingredients are now in one place in the pantry shown to the right in the next photo. She used to have ingredients stored in three separate cupboards in the motor home.

We don't have much to report on for the rest of the week because we spent most of our time running around to various stores with our tape measure trying to find bins and containers for storage and organizing. We spent the rest of the time putting things into the containers and putting them away. We're starting to feel like we're making some headway, so we're hoping to find time to get out for some fun soon. Stay tuned.
Your new home is gorgeous. I am sure you will get very good use out of the fireplace! Enjoy.
